Uxabal is living in Barcelona's poorly neighborhood Santa Coloma, and he is involved in a series of illegal business in order to provide a decent life for his two children. His wife, named Maramba, has a splitting personality, so she is very irritable and emotional unstable, also having an affair with Uxabal's brother. She is an awful mother, reason enough for the custody of the children to be rendered to their father. Being able to comunicate with the spirits of those decease, Uxabal is often payed by the grieving relatives to ease the passing to the other side of the dead ones, but the main source of income is the introducing of illegal chinese immigrants in Spain which hardly work in a manufactory making items for smuggling, sold afterwards by immigrants from Senegal. When the immigrants from Senegal are threaten with deportation, 24 of the chinese people are victims of a tragic accident that Uxabal feels responsable with; above all, doctors deliver him an awful piece of information. Uxabal needs to find a way to come to terms with fate.
